Vodafone planning to launch an Android 2.1 phone called Webbox | Webbox price in india

Vodafone said they will be launching a Rs. 6k Android phone this month under their own brand name.

The price of this phone will be somewhere around Rs. 6k7k and will be having an Android 2.2 OS along with 2.8 inches capacitive touchscreen display.

This handset will be manufactured by Huawei and it has been named ‘Smart’. It will come with a two megapixels camera, Adreno 200 Graphics Processing Unit (GPU), and 528 MHz ARM processor.

It will be a 3G enabled phone and will have Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity options. There will be 130 MB of internal storage and the microSD slot of the phone will take maximum of 32 GB cards. The battery of this phone will give 250 hours of talk time.

Apart from the different Android apps, this phone will be preloaded with Vodafone Find & Go, Vodafone Music and GPS navigator app. There are two colour options – white and black. The service provider might bring it with some kinda bundled offer like 1 GB free data for six months.

Vodafone is also planning to launch an Android 2.1 phone called Webbox. It was launched in June this year in Haryana as a pet project. It has EDGE but there is no 3G and it uses TV as its screen.

Webbox gives you access to the Android apps an they are bundled along with the device. There are also things like email access, contacts, etc. This device can be the first PC of your family and the only problem here is that it runs on a slower 2G network.

The price of this phone is Rs. 5,799 and Vodafone is offering 12 GB of data use for 12 months at 2 GB per month ratio. The service provider is offering this phone for free but you will be bound by a two year agreement.

Webbox is pretty lightweight but still the portability is limited. You need to connect it through wires. One positive thing here is that you can connect it to all TVs through VGA connectors.
